Trump’s emergency taco move lowers U.S. bond yields, gold rebounds toward 4180

U.S. President Trump posted on social media that the United States would “not attack Iran” before the November midterm elections, citing “productive discussions” with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Earlier, according to The New York Times, three U.S. aircraft carriers are expected to arrive in the Middle East over the coming weeks. The core of the current plan involves a short, high-intensity military operation lasting approximately three days.

Trump’s intervention helped push down long-term U.S. Treasury yields. Gold rebounded from around 4120 to near 4180. WTI crude also surged above 94 but later pulled back to around 92.

On Thursday, strong demand at the auction of 30-year U.S. Treasuries indicated some buyers were emerging, suggesting market expectations for Federal Reserve rate hikes may have been overblown.

U.S. stock futures rose alongside Asian markets after OpenAI released further revenue forecast details, signaling that the weakness in Wall Street tech stocks might be stabilizing. Falling oil prices also boosted market risk appetite. S&P 500 futures gained 0.3%, while Nasdaq 100 futures rose 0.4%.

Market analysts noted that OpenAI now expects annualized revenue to reach $70 billion by the end of 2026, though uncertainty surrounding revenue outlooks continues to dampen investor interest in AI-related trades. With technology stocks underperforming and weekend oil risks lingering, market confidence remains fragile.

OpenAI, Anthropic, and other AI companies frequently use annualized revenue—based on projected sales over shorter periods—as a key growth metric. However, not all firms measure annualized revenue the same way. As of the end of July, Anthropic’s annualized revenue had reached $65 billion.

Gold: Yesterday’s price continued its broadening oscillation pattern, but following Trump’s intervention, it tested upward toward the resistance zone of 4180–4200. Current structural support has shifted up to the 4130/4150 area, but upside potential will initially depend on how liquidity clears the 4180–4200 zone.

Nasdaq: Overnight, prices briefly rebounded after breaking through the liquidity zone below 31,000, but pressure intensified due to the breakout structure resistance at 31,150, leading to a sharper decline. For intraday long positions, traders should wait for a reclamation of 31,000 before entering. Alternatively, consider participation only after a secondary pullback near the overnight low shows a recovery.

Crude Oil: Overnight prices surged then reversed, falling back below the yellow zone. Today’s focus is whether the supply zone left behind after the momentum break can offer a second chance for shorting upon a pullback.
